Yahoo to Become Default Search Engine in Next Ubuntu Release

Engineering Manager Ricks Spencer of Canonical said that Yahoo will become the default search engine in the Firefox Browser of the upcoming Ubuntu Release 10.04 that is scheduled for April 2010.

Although users can still choose between Google and Yahoo the default will be Yahoo search. Yahoo “does not share any personally identifiable or usage information”, Spencer said on the Ubuntu developer mailing list

Canonical has made a revenue sharing deal with Yahoo that is supposed to enable further development of the Ubuntu/Linux operating system.
